Mocănița, the little steam train

This is the photo-story of my trip to Maramures, Northern Romania, close to the border with Ukraine, to discover Mocănița.

Mocănița is a narrow gauge railway built in 1932 and still operational with steam and diesel locomotives to transport wood from the higland to a processing plant in Viseu de Sus.

The line has been partially converted to touristic purposes: while working train runs six days a week, there are also touristic trains.

I spent some days on site and along the line with the workers to try to get the atmosphere of the place.
